DOWN THE MEMORY LANE.
By: Ayushi Sandilya
YES!! FINALLY!! My parents had made their mind to conduct a family trip to Delhi. I was on cloud nine. Soon the tickets were booked and we had started our packing. On 26th of December 2019, at evening we left for our journey. We booked a cab and went to station. Soon after reaching we caught our train ‘Rajdhani Express’. I thought to utilize my time, hence I went for reading a book which was titled as ‘Nationalism’ by Rabindranath Tagore. It literally added to the elegance of my journey. It is indeed a great influencing and patriotic creation!
By 11am we reached our destination. Now we had to go to Faridabad at my aunt’s residence. We travelled by metro followed by a cab and reached our destination.
We were supposed to witness the pulchritude of Delhi. The first place we visited was
- SURAJKUND LAKE
It is an artificial Kund built in the backdrop of the Aravalli hills. It was so alluring and instinctive to see. The sunset view simply won my heart.
The next morning we went to
- AKSHARDHAM TEMPLE
That temple had very strong spiritual vibes. The complex displays millennia of traditional and modern Hindu culture. I got to learn a lot about the ancestry of Hinduism.
Now all of us were craving for lunch so we went to Haldiram’s and ate rajma chawal which was truly delicious. We again continued our trip and now went to Cannaught.
- CANNAUGHT PLACE
Connaught Place is famous for its Georgian-style architecture. I being a book worm had heard a lot about it. Books are sold there at a cheap rate. So from there I bought numerous books all of different genres. I felt so ecstatic visiting there.
Now it was time to go back home and rest and continue our trip the next day.
The new morning brought a great many visits for us. The first place we visited that day was
- WORLDS WONDER
The theme park has sculptures of the Seven Wonders of the World. I again got a chance to dip in the history of these wonders and gained a lot of knowledge. It proved to be an educative resource for me.
Now we were supposed to look forward at a visit to
- LODHI GARDENS
These gardens are best known for the monuments constructed by Sayyid and Lodhi dynasty. It was so exquisite. I was simply flabbergasted by the architectural skills.
The next morning marked the last day of our trip to Delhi. We headed towards our destination which was
- ISKCON
There, the spirituality was in the air. We had the sight of almighty Krishna and Radha, which was a blessing to our eyes. We stayed there till evening.
We stayed in Hotel York Legacy that night. After having dinner I went to bed and had a sound sleep.
Not only it was an enchanting trip but also aroused within me love and respect for my country ‘India’.
I should strongly state this-‘India has a vast and enriching culture and heritage. Still we oversee the delicacy of our country and adore the foreign lands. We should embrace the preeminence of our land too!’
I came back to my home and still we cherish the memories we created!
