“Banaras ke ghat, jinhe pawan Ganga ki lahren dho rahi ho aur unpar ghoonghruon ki wo chhankar, mano maza aa gaya ho”, Yes, I went to witness this series of Nritya prastuti on 26th December, 2021. The event was name BAALRANG. It was a mega event hosted under the warm and bright sun of the cold and freezing winters. The presentation was kick-started at 1:00 pm and continued till the sunset. If I had to describe the whole program in one word it would be “The stage is not merely the meeting place of all dance forms, but a place where all dance form return back to life.”
The scenic beauty of The Ganges adorned by those traditionally dressed little women, bringing each lyric of the music to life justified the fact that dance speaks where words are unable to explain the true essence. It was organized on Mahanirwani ghat of Varanasi with 551 participants and continuous performances with India’s 3 major dance forms – Kathak, Bharatnatyam, and Odishi. People of different institutions came together to host these events but the Ayodhya Shod Sansthan, Sanskriti Vibhaag (U.P) has to be credited for bringing up this creative idea and encouraging the youth to present the alluring culture of our motherland India and diverse art she beholds.
The rhythmic beat of ghunghrus and depiction of various deities in Hinduism had set a living example that the voice of art and power of dance is immortal. Truly being able to eye these dances was a blessing to my soul as amidst those loud and bold shows I found inner happiness and peace.
